Odds in Your Favor
Gambling isn’t always a gamble. You hear it all the time. Those who make a lot of money playing poker, blackjack, craps, or any other casino game of choice, are obviously experienced and educated in the world of casinos and what is considered a gamble. But if they are consistently and constantly coming home with great results, there really must be truth to the fact that it doesn’t have to be a gamble. Now, there is no need to argue that there are some games that are truly a gamble; based on nothing more than a simple chance. However, some of these games offer better player odds and if you play wisely, you can find yourself rubbing shoulders with figures in the black. No, we’re not considering Keno to be one of these games, rather games such as: Blackjack, craps, pai gow poker, baccarat, European inspired roulette and if you are a sports fanatic, then consider betting on some games. Now that we have identified the what, let’s consider the why.
There is no fail safe in regards to betting money on games, whatever the game may be. You could create a contest between a pro basketball team and the best high school team in the nation and you know the only bet to make would be on the pros. And in this example that is completely flawed, if you made the wise bet, you would make nothing because the odds would be so heavily in your favor. So consider casino games. The odds have to sit in favor of the house or read near 50/50 because anything falling more into a player’s advantage would cost the casino money and they are not in business to lose money!
Consider blackjack. Blackjack is a game that matches the player against the house and offers advantages for the player such as being able to double and split on good draws. Some casinos also offer insurance and surrender so you may lose less when the house happens to hit big. If you take the time to learn the game and practice towards perfection, you stand a chance in doing well at a table. Of course with 6 decks being filed through an automatic shuffler, you may find yourself drawing 16’s on a consistent basis and the safest bet might be to find another table or take a break. Regardless, your odds are even at the start of the game. And truly, the fewer decks played with, the more the odds swing in your favor if you know what you’re doing.
In consideration of other games, you should pay attention to payouts. If something offers a 16 to 1 payout, you can deduce that there is not a very good chance of hitting. For example, placing a number bet in roulette could pay off big, yet the chances of it happening are slim to none. On the other hand, in the same game of roulette you can bet on red or black and now you have upped your chances of winning to almost 50 percent. The concept is simple. Put yourself in a position to build your bankroll to scrape some goods off the top; then take your risk. And one final note about roulette: Find a single zero wheel, especially if you are playing online. There is no need to play with an additional pocket on the wheel that will decrease the odds in your favor. Craps can be seen in the same light. Play a Pass/Don’t Pass bet versus something on the field will offer better player odds. Again, you are putting yourself in a position to build a bit before taking your chance.
When it comes right down to it, the best way to take advantage of games with the lowest house odds is to know the game well: Up and down, left and right, inside and out. As if it is an extension of your persona. You notice those poker players that are winning millions aren’t the scrubs of the poker world. Regardless of the game, good players commit time, energy and dedication to the game and that’s why so many don’t consider their wagers a gamble.
